In my late thirties, I started to realise the weight I was carrying wasn’t just about how I looked. I was dealing with low energy, poor recovery, and I wasn’t performing the way I should have been for my age.
What I didn’t understand at the time was visceral fat—fat stored around the organs that is metabolically active, it doesn’t always show on the outside. Visceral fat actively secretes hormones and inflammatory molecules, influencing metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and cardiovascular risk.
At 39, I realised I needed to change my diet and lifestyle. My weight was getting out of control, and the symptoms that came with it were becoming harder to ignore.
Change wasn’t easy, but seeing the physical changes and feeling the difference in my energy kept me on track. Over time, things started to shift—and more importantly, it has stayed that way.
That discovery deepened my commitment to understanding what actually drives lasting change. It led me to the College of Naturopathic Medicine, where I trained and qualified as a Nutritional Therapist.
Today I work with clients using both professional expertise and lived experience. I know what it feels like to be where you are. And I know what it takes to move forward.
